Do you read them or use them? Would you follow recommendations to Vote for candidates according to a How To Vote card or do you come to the polling booth with your mind already made up?

To fluoride or not to fluoride

I worry that the fluoride debate concentrates on the effect of fluoride on developing teeth. I don't have developing teeth. My teeth are well and truly grown. I am concerned about adding another substance to my water supply because I am uncertain about what it might do to the rest of my body. I know people who have thyroid conditions that already know the addition of fluoride to our water will mean that they can't drink our water without filtering the fluoride out.Why is there a rising incidence of some diseases such as asthma and autism etc in our children? Until this question is answered I prefer to drink unfluoridated water.

Foreshore issues

Thursday 07 February, 2008 - 10:47 by Sue in Foreshore

OK. Time to get more organised so I am trying to move discussions across into categories that are easily followed. Seems everything up till now is in default.. So excuse the tidy up.

I personally want a foreshore that is accessible, retains trees, has a variety of differing zones or precincts, and incorporates different infrastructure in different places. I would like to see improved maintenance along the whole foreshore and better weed control. I would like a wider pathway where we can fit it. I want to retain trees and not build any more buildings on the beach side of the Esplanade. I want to see the caravan parks and the big roundabout at Main St retained. I want the existing lessees to be able to develop cafe style facilities. I want some areas to be manicured and others (Gatakers Bay area)left quite wild and a blend in between. I think our foreshore is Hervey Bay's greatest and most wonderful asset. I care very deeply about looking after it.

Over to you now. My job is to represent your thoughts and wishes so let me know what you think.

Development

Are you in favour of a reduction in the height limit in Hervey Bay from the current 8 storeys back down to 6 storeys?

Are you concerned about infill development? This is the practice of removing a house and subdividing a block into two or more blocks so that more than one residence can fit where the single residence once stood.

I'd also like to hear from our rural residents about what development issues concern them. Do you want more development or less?

Water Park

Sunday 09 December, 2007 - 09:24 by Sue in Water Park

Can you let me know your thoughts about the proposed WBW Water Park please? There hasn't been any formal community consultation yet, but WBW was successful in securing $5mil from the State Govt. Council has to consider major issues in relation to funding the proposed park at the construction stage (more millions needed) and ongoing maintenance and operation costs.

Please let me know your thoughts. Do you want it? What type of Water Park do you want and where do you want it located?

Thanks, Sue
